Uncover Sydney’s best shopping spots within the city centre!

Sydney is a mecca for shopping lovers with many retailers on offer around the city in various locations. If you’re visiting Australia on your next getaway then there’s a high chance that Sydney will be on your list. The city is a hub of culture, arts and entertainment and natural attractions making it a top choice on many people’s Australia bucket list. Sydney’s dynamic and ever-changing lifestyle means that there is something new to discover on every street while you explore the lively city. You don’t have to look very far to shop in Sydney but there are some precincts and shopping malls that are worth a visit!

  • Pitt Street Mall

Pitt Street Mall is a large shopping district that is culmination of smaller shopping centres and arcades meaning you could spend a whole day there. It’s in a great location, within walking distance to Darling Harbour and Circular Quay. It’s one of the most recognised and used shopping centres in Sydney and features international retailers such as H&M, Uniqlo and Topshop. Spend a whole day here and if you need a break, stop at one of the many eateries and cafes surrounding and inside the mall. As there is a lot of outdoor pedestrian walkways, you might even discover some hidden talent in one of the many buskers who play music and perform death defying stunts all outdoors while you shop.

  • Queen Victoria Building

This historic 19th century building had its luxurious beginning in 1898 and now houses the major high fashion retailers. There are 100 retailers such as Coach and Fossil there as well as the more affordable retailers on the ground floor being Lush and Victoria’s Secret. You could even just spend some time walking through the building and its beautiful architectural design on one of the guided tours offered at the Information Desk. Throughout its illustrious history the Queen Victoria Building has played house to business offices, a concert hall and showrooms. It’s especially pretty at Christmas time when a large Christmas tree is placed in the arcade and the building is decorated with Christmas wreaths and garlands.

  • Centrepoint Tower Westfield

Located on the corner from the popular Pitt Street Mall, Sydney siders commonly refer this shopping area as Westfields. Over six floors you can explore 280 food and shopping outlets from high end retailers like Gucci, Prada and Christian Louboutin to the more affordable Australian outlets such as Dotti, Supre and JB Hi-Fi. 600 stores are within two city pedestrian blocks as well as the many arcade and department giants Myer and David Jones. There are food options over 3 levels and tourists who show their passport to the concierge desk will be given the Westfield Sydney Privilege Card offering you discounts on retail discounts. Venture upstairs and you’ll find yourself at one of Sydney’s premier attractions; the Sydney Tower.
