The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) is one of Australia’s most important contemporary art museums. Inside, the Museum features work by Australian and international contemporary artists, with over 4700 artworks on display, including unique paintings and sculptures.

The Museum is located in The Rocks, right by Circular Quay in Sydney. You can easily get to MCA by train, bus, ferry, or light rail, with just a short 6-minute walk from the stop.

  • See the artwork and exhibitions

    The MCA hosts a variety of exhibitions throughout the year, many of which are limited run. Some of these exhibits require an entry ticket. The collection includes a significant number of works by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.

  • Daily tours

    MCA offers daily tours for a selection of current exhibitions. Most tours are free and do not require a booking, but some tours may involve a fee and require prior booking. If you are unsure, you can book online or speak with an MCA staff member.

    Whether you are after a quick bite or a full meal, MCA has 2 dining options with scenic views across Sydney Harbour. The MCA Cafe at Tallawoladah offers a casual all-day menu, while Canvas Restaurant is open for lunch, where you can enjoy a meal and a drink.

  • Remember your time

    As you finish exploring the Museum, be sure to visit the gift shop before you leave. The gift shop is filled with homewares, fashion, books, jewellery, and much more! You will also find many locally made gifts, including those created by First Nations artists.
