Sydney to Canberra Day Tour Itinerary
Our return tour from Sydney to Canberra, which departs every Wednesday and Saturday, is the perfect way to spend your day learning about Australia and its rich history while exploring a new city. If you are eager to dive into all that has shaped Australia into what it is today, this tour of the nation’s capital city is for you!
Departing from Sydney, we drive through the Southern Highlands dotted with small, picturesque country towns on our way to Canberra. We’ll stop in one of the small towns so you can grab a snack or a coffee and walk around a bit before we continue our drive.
The impressive Canberra Parliament House is our first stop once we arrive in the city. You will have plenty of time to take in the views during a guided tour through the building, which includes walking on the roof. The unique design of Capitol Hill and the Canberra Parliament House will have you in awe of your surroundings. Before heading to the next highlight in Canberra, we will take a break for lunch. Due to limited options in the area, we recommend bringing your own lunch to enjoy.
Once you’ve had a bite to eat, we’ll visit the National Museum of Australia. Here you will have two hours to make your way through the museum at your own pace, taking a deep dive into the nation’s history through various exhibitions. We will then head to the Australian War Memorial, where you can take time to reflect and learn about the Anzac legend and Australians who have fought in past wars.
As we depart from Canberra, we will drive through the large suburb of Yarralumla, which is home to an array of national embassies. You’ll be able to see how the embassies all have their own individual look that reflects the culture of the country that they represent.
After a full day of exploring the beautiful capital city of Canberra, you will head back to Sydney with a deeper understanding of Australia’s history and memories that will last a lifetime.
*Tours departing between September to October will visit the annual Floriade festival.
